New industry reports states that the e marketers are failing to maximize their profits in the Internet sector through email marketing. The e marketers are facing challenges while applying different methodologies to track their emails.

According to The Direct Marketing Association’s (DMA) surveys undertaken a few days before, several e marketers are unaware of the process to track their emails, from the moment the customers click open the mail till the sale is actually made. This is making the process of tracking the emails a bit challenging for the email marketers and they are not being able to measure the amount of sale done or return generated through email marketing.

The survey reports revealed interesting facts about the email marketers. While the internet medium is recognized as the most important medium for mass endorsement, some important keys are being cut back by them.

The business houses are giving importance to this medium and are determined to increase their investment for email marketing campaigns. 9 out of 10 businesses have considered email marketing to be strategically important, while 86 per cent, which is almost the same, of them have considered it to be crucial operationally.

As we know that there are different forms of email marketing, amongst which the most popular as proven by the survey report was the use of newsletter. 73.2 per cent of them voted for newsletter to be the most popular medium amongst all other, while the customer survey and breaking news got 56 per cent and 40.6 per cent respectively in the popularity chart.

Whereas, there was a considerable decrease in the use across different communication categories, which attributed to reduction in the marketing budget. However, just more than half of the email marketer which accounts to 51.5 per cent stated that they would like to increase their investment in the email marketing sector in the coming years.

Email marketing is an easy marketing tool, for its low operational cost and higher reach amongst different mediums. With the proper usage of correct tracking software, which is done only by a handful of strategists, this medium can be fully optimized for the success of your campaign.

According to the survey reports 49.3 per cent of the email marketers are planning to cut their share of budget for the regular direct mails and invest that amount for email marketing purposes. While 19.4 per cent amongst them had reduced their share on social media marketing and utilised that share for email marketing.
