St George's Bristol e-bulletin
WELCOME TO AUTUMN!

September 2007

Welcome to the Autumn Season at St George's Bristol and our new look e-newsletter!
After a month off we've spruced up and are back, raring to go, with a season full of musical treats to inspire and entertain.

It all starts this Friday with the wonderful sounds of I Fagiolini and a musical feast from the Spanish Renaissance courts. Acclaimed author Meg Rosoff drops by on the 20th to talk about her latest novel, What I Was, a story about the intensity of first love, and then our Late Notes series begins with folk legends Dave Swarbrick and Martin Carthy on the 21st.

Other highlights to look forward to this autumn include Irish crooner Brian Kennedy; the ever-popular Brodsky Quartet; a stunning performance of Romeo and Juliet by Pimlico Opera; (arguably) the greatest male jazz singer in the world, Kurt Elling; Beth Nielsen Chapman; and the wonderful Angela Hewitt on her world tour with Bach's immortal 48.

Brodsky Quartet: Close To You I

The Brodskys return to St George's this autumn with two concerts in homage to the Hollywood String Quartet. Made up of Hollywood film studio players in the 1940s, the Quartet enabled its members to indulge their passion for classical repertory in their spare time, drawing widespread acclaim. In the first concert of this series, the Brodskys pay tribute with a stunning programme  including Turina, Brahms and Beethoven.
